Billie Jean Brannon

Billie Jean Brannon, age 85, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Jean was born in Saltville, Va. to the late James Gipson and Virginia Colley Poore. She lived most of her life in Bristol. Although Jean worked for a few years outside of her home, her calling was to be a homemaker and wife to Bascom and mother to Sandra. Jean was a faithful and loving member of First Christian Church in Bristol.

In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband Bascom Brannon, siblings Dottie Cowan, Samuel Poore, Buford Poore, and Kathleen Frye.

She is survived by her daughter Sandra Sue Brannon of Bristol, Va., sister Jackie Sproles and husband Bill of Glade Spring, Va., brothers Coeburn Poore and wife Shirley of Abingdon and Chester Poore and wife Betty of Emory, Va.

A funeral service for Billie Jean Brannon will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at First Christian Church, 311 Spencer Street, Bristol, Va. with Ministers Herb Peak and Jeremy Burden, and Pastor Scott Price officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Garon Compton, Bryan Haynes, Greg Haynes, Scott Poore, Adam Poore, and Bill Sproles will serve as pallbearers. Honorary bearers will be Ed Morgan, Allen Anderson, Darrell Poore, and Cecil Cowan. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM -12:00 noon at the church.
