Chlela Ann Lockhart

Chlela Ann Lockhart, age 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 25, 2025. Born in Ikes Fork, West Virginia, almost a century ago, she was the beloved daughter of Blaine and Fannie England. She grew up on the family farm with her sister and four brothers: Paul (Irene) England, Audrey (Elmer) Cline, Claude (Grace) England, Ernest (Becky) England, and Jesse (Pat) England. Chlela briefly attended Concord College before returning to Ikes Fork to teach school for several years.

After her marriage to Clayton G. Lockhart, she dedicated herself to being a full-time homemaker and mother. Chlela was renowned for her exceptional cooking, especially her coconut cream pies, cinnamon rolls, and chicken and dumplings, which brought joy to many family and friend gatherings and church events.

Guided by her unwavering faith in God, she developed a strong work ethic and a deep, compassionate love for her family—qualities that carried her through life's challenges and blessings alike, and that consistently reflected His love, grace, and mercy in everything she did.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton G. Lockhart; her daughter, Nancy McFarland; and her grandson, Clayton McFarland. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Lockhart Lewis; son-in-law, Christopher Lewis; granddaughter, Allison Blackwell, and her husband, Brandon; great-grandson, Logan McFarland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Victory Baptist Church, 11101 Island Road, Bristol, VA 24202, with a funeral service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon, VA.

Rhonda and Pat would like to thank Dr. Carl Chotus and Zoey Billings for the special love and attention shown to Mrs. Lockhart during her last moments.
