Collette Johnson Taylor

Abingdon, VA – Collette Johnson Taylor, age 96 and formerly of Kennebunk Port, ME, passed on Sunday, December 28, 2025. Collette was born in New York City, NY to the late Carroll and Helen Taft Johnson. She grew up in Seekonk, MA and attended Dana Hall School in Wellesley, MA. Collette obtained her Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Maine and taught second grade at Park Street School in Kennebunk, ME for 35 years.

In 2016, she relocated to Abingdon, VA to live with her daughter, Deborah Campbell and her husband Rob. She became a member of Abingdon Baptist Church where she made many friends and enjoyed being a church volunteer. Collette also was a member of the Newcomer’s Club in Abingdon and enjoyed horseback riding, skiing, and absolutely loved caring for cats.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Tedford, and brother, Daniel Johnson. Collette is survived by her daughter, Deborah Campbell and husband Rob of Abingdon, VA; son, Gregory C. Taylor and wife Jill of Buxton, ME; three grandchildren, Andrew Taylor, Ben Taylor, and Nate Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA, with Dr. Bill Bryan officiating. Interment will be held privately in Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
