Buster Dollar

Colonel "Buster" Dollar  joined the Lord on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was approaching his 91st birthday; born April 2, 1933. 

He was a hardworking man in his youth, a loving husband and father, and friend. He spent his life collecting precious memories with his family. All who met him gained companionship. Buster enjoyed walks along the Creeper Trail, watching westerns, and spending time with friends and family. He was a lifelong resident of Abingdon and worshiped the Lord in various churches throughout town. 

Buster was preceded in death by his parents, William John Dollar and Lula Mae Norris Dollar; his wives, Anna Maria Dunn Dollar and Ethel Mae Hillard Dollar; brother, Donald Dollar; and sister, Marie Mumpower.

Survivors include one daughter, Tammy Sue Holbrook (Jerry); two sons, Ricky Allen Dollar and Eddie Wayne Dollar; two sisters, Nellie Jean Williams and Hazel Viola Dollar; one brother, Clifton Paul Dollar; four grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 5, 2024, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at Farris Funeral Service, Main Street location. The funeral will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, February 5, 2024 with Rev. Barbara Farmer officiating. The burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Bruce Holbrook, Nathan Savage, Donny Goodson, Leif Smith, John Moody and Jacob Moody.
