Daniel Bishop, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away surrounded by family and love.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Bishop; his daughters, Karen (spouse Clip) and Carol; his cherished granddaughters, Rebecca (spouse Andy) and Michelle (spouse Matt); and his great-granddaughter, Lucy, who brought him so much joy.
Daniel proudly served in the Virginia Army National Guard, and dedicated 40 years to driving for Old Dominion Freight Lines and 2 years for the Virginia Department of Conservation. A true Virginian at heart, Daniel found peace and joy in the outdoors — especially in fishing and hunting, pursuits he loved and shared with those close to him. He was known for his humor, kindness, and generous spirit — the kind of man who could lighten any room with a smile or a joke, and who always made time for others. A man of deep Christian faith, Daniel lived with conviction, humility, and a servant’s heart. Thought he left for his family and friends: “Don’t sell your saddle — life is a long, long ride.” And indeed, he rode it well — with strength, compassion, and laughter. Daniel Bishop’s legacy of love and light lives on in all who knew him.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. Military honors will be provided by Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard and Highlands Veterans Honor Guard.
