Dare Rose Frye

Dare Rose Frye, age 78, passed away at Johnston Memorial Hospital on Saturday, February 11, 2023. She was a native of Buchanan County, Va. and had lived in Meadowview for the past 62 years. Dare was a teacher and taught at Council Elementary School for many years. She was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church, Abingdon, Va.

Dare was predeceased by her parents Virgil and Aeolus Childress and her husband Roger Lee Rose.

She is survived by her daughters Rebecca Wyatt and husband Donald R. of Abingdon, and Stephanie Blankenbeckler and husband Gary of Glade Spring, sister Sharon K. Wilder of Abingdon, grandchildren Callee Blankenbeckler and boyfriend T.J. Widener, Courtney Bailey and husband Tyler, and Miranda Wyatt, great grandson Greyden Bailey, special friends Lynna Altizer, Dennis Neal, Rick Neal, and Mary Ann Bise.

Dare raised a loving family and she meant different things to different family members. She had a strong faith, was strong willed, could be stubborn, was very honest, was concerned about other’s well being and at the end of the day she wanted everyone to know that “everything is going to be okay!”

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service and Crematory. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pastor Gary Blankenbeckler will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Hale, T.J. Widener, and Tyler Bailey.

The family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to the 3^rd floor staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital for the care and love extended to Dare and the family during this time of need.
