Deborah Jane Holbrook "Debbie" McKemy

Abingdon, VA - Deborah Jane Holbrook “Debbie” McKemy, age 71, went to be with the Lord on November 8, 2022.  Debbie was born in Jackson, KY February 10, 1951, and was a graduate from Morehead University. Throughout her working years, Debbie enjoyed many challenging opportunities, but her greatest enjoyment was in teaching young people.  

She was a proud mother of her sons, Jimmy and Neil but was most proud of her two grandchildren, Noel and Chase.  They were her world.  Debbie loved animals.  She could not wait until the first weekend in May to watch the Kentucky Derby.  Debbie loved horses her whole life and had many dogs and cats over the years.  In her later years she raised Great Danes.  Debbie loved Mickey Mouse, yellow roses, and the color red.  

 She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Holbrook, and mother Jewell Holbrook and her sister, Lynn Stidham.

She is survived by her sons, James Edward McKemy, II and wife Crystal Leigh McKemy, and Brian Neil McKemy, and Meredith Manual; grandchildren, Emily Noel McKemy and Gabriel Chase McKemy; brother, Harold L. Holbrook; nephew, Harold J. Holbrook; niece, Whitney Haddix; and two great nephews and one great niece all of whom who she adored.

Memorial services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2022, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Bill Bryan officiating.  Visitation with the family will immediately follow the service.
