Diane Louise Lee

Diane Louise Lee was born in Youngstown, Ohio on July 21, 1945, and joined the angels in Heaven on September 15, 2022, in Abingdon, VA. She was an executive secretary for GMAC in Washington DC and Western Savings in Arizona. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where Diane met Doris Riggs, her life-long friend. They were so much alike, they became sisters at heart. Both were lovers of animals and beauty; flowers, ribbons, and crafts, but they especially loved their sheltie.

She married Vestal Rouse in the 70’s and joined his ready-made family of Jamie S. Burlett and her siblings. After the divorce, Diane & Steven Lee were married, for time and eternity, on October 6, 1981, at the Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). Diane joined Steven’s ready-made family and his children; Amy, Laura, and Ben. Eternal sweethearts, they lived a life full of service. They opened the doors of their home to those in need of a place to stay. They loved living in Hawaii for the next thirty years, where he became a Stake President (Kawaii Stake) for LDS Church and she owned the Garden Isle Travel Agency. They traveled the world; traveling over a million miles together. In 2005, they moved to Abingdon, VA, when they retired and attended the Abingdon Ward.

A beautiful and striking woman inside and out, Diane was always serving someone else and thinking of ways she could help others. A true talent with her flower arranging, dolls, and crafts, she shared her creativity with everyone around her. So generous and giving, she touched a multitude of lives. A dear angel who blessed us all, now, she is our angel in heaven.

Diane was preceded in death by her Grandparents, Anna Booher & Harry Berkley Curley, and three siblings, Debbie, Darlene, and John Gardner. Diane is survived by her husband of 41 years, Steven Lee; one sister, Denise Gardner, and one step-sister, Cathy Di Veto; step-children by Steven Lee; Amy Ashcroft, Laura Simmons, Ben Lee; step-children by Vestal Rose; Jamie S. Burlett and her children: Katie, Rebecca, Nathan and Sarah Burlett; Doris Riggs, her dear friend, and Ivy, her loyal dog.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Abingdon Ward, 13 Heritage Drive, Bristol VA.
