Donald Leon Bailey

Donald Leon Bailey, age 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Johnson Memorial Hospital surrounded by his wife and two sons. He was a lifelong Washington County, Virginia resident and a graduate of Abingdon High School. Don was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He attended Spoon Gap Freewill Baptist Church and he worked at Columbus McKinnon for 47 years. Don was an avid golfer, and took pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Ruth Bailey; sister, Linda Bailey Lowe; and brothers-in-law, Ellis Flanagan and Gene Lowe.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Brenda Stephenson Bailey; children, Chad (Samantha) Bailey and Greg (Beverly) Bailey; brothers, Herbert (Pat) Bailey and Barry (Beverly) Bailey; sisters, Madeline (Willis) Harrington and Francis Flanagan; grandchildren, Connor (Hailey) Bailey, Brady Bailey, Maddie Bailey, and Katie Bailey; great-grandchildren, Hudson Hughes, Hatley Bailey, and Samuel Bailey; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Farris Funeral Service. The funeral will be on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Herbert Bailey officiating. An interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Steve Harris, Paul Harless, Wayne Harless, Connor Bailey, Brad Bailey, Eric Bailey, Barry Bailey and Ethan Jones serving as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank Commonwealth Assisted Living and the CCU doctors and nurses at Johnston Memorial Hospital for the care and attention showed towards Don.
