Doris Evelyn Keene

Doris Evelyn Keene, age 89, formally of Pounding Mill, Virginia recently residing in Bristol Virginia died on August 20, 2022.
Doris was born in Coeburn, Virginia on October 30, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Henry Esau Farmer and Della Evelyn Gaynes Farmer.
After graduating from Grundy High School, Doris went to Johnston Memorial School of Nursing in Abingdon and became a registered nurse. Doris worked at the Veterans Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, at the Grundy hospital, and eventually taught nursing in Grundy, VA until she retired.
Doris was a member of the Main Street Methodist Church in Tazewell, VA and a member of the Jefferson Women’s Garden Club in Tazewell, VA.
Doris was married to the late Don Earl Keene for 69 years, she is survived by one sister, Shirley Looney of Tazewell, VA; her daughters, Laura Bays Reynolds of Abingdon, VA, April Street Kaiser of Altadena CA; Daughter-in-law Crystal Keene; Grandsons, Mark Bays, of Bristol TN, Oliver Keene of Rich Creek, VA; Granddaughters Gabrielle Keene of Tazewell, VA and Ariana Hagerty of Abingdon VA; Great grandsons, Hayden, Logan, and Aven Bays; Great granddaughter Evie Keene.
Doris was a beloved wife and mother. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, flowers, art, traveling with family members, and social functions. Doris had many friends and family who loved her and she left us with many happy memories. We will treasure the time we had with her and will faithfully wait until we all meet again in heaven.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM on August 26, 2022 at Green Hills Mausoleum Chapel located at Green Hills Memory Gardens Cemetery, 11800 Gov. GC Perry Highway, Cedar Bluff, VA 24609.
A graveside service will follow at 1:30 PM at the mausoleum chapel with Reverend Manny Elswick and Reverend Anthony Grills officiating.
Pallbearers will be Ken Tucker, Mark Bays, Oliver Keene, Philipp Kaiser, John Keene, Clark Kennedy, Hayden Bays.
In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Tazewell Main Street United Methodist Church, 118 Main Street, Tazewell, VA 24651.
