E. Ray Hart

April 8, 1925 — March 5, 2010

E. Ray Hart, age 84, of Abingdon, Virginia passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, VA.

He was born on April 8, 1925 in Chilhowie, VA. He was a US Army Combat Veteran of WWII and a Purple Heart Recipient. He was Office Manager at Tickle Brothers Sign Company in Bristol for several years and was an avid bowler on several Bristol Bowling Leagues. He was a member of Fellowship Chapel

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robey and Flora Hart; one brother, Ed Hart; two sisters, Hazel Shupe and Marie Duncan; and beloved daughter Betty Ann Hart Bays.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years Lacie Ann Lester Hart; son Alan Ray Hart and wife Cathy; grandson, Michael Hart and wife Serenah; granddaughter, Angela Hart Livingston and husband Jonathan; Grandson, Bradley Bays; granddaughter, Laura Bays Thelen and husband Michael; and son-in-law Larry Bays. Two great granddaughters, Evey Lynn Hart and Leah Abigail Thelen. One surviving sister, Irene Haga of Rising Sun, Maryland. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 1-3pm at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will follow at 3 pm with Rev. Steven Peek and Pastor Scott Price officiating. Interment will follow the service at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Military honors will be conducted by Highlands Fellowship Veterans Honor Guard. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
