Edith Marie Ball, age 76, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Ball was a life long resident of Abingdon, and was born November 22, 1933 to the late Earl and Julia Blackwell.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Thurman T. Ball; three sons, Jimmy Ball of Meadowview, VA, Jerry Ball and wife Evelyn and Mark Ball both of Abingdon; two daughters Shirley Marsh and husband, Dean of Bristol, VA and Judy Dale of Lebanon, VA; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and also, her brother, Guy Blackwell of Crowley, TX.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ball will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Saturday, October 16, 2010 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Paul Price and Rev. Harry Booher officiating. The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service from 6:00 until 7:45 P.M. Saturday.
Committal services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon. Pallbearers will be Dean Marsh, Darrell Dale, Adam Dale, Jarrod Ball, Chad Ball, Brad Ball, Trevor Adams and Dylan Rouse. Those attending the graveside are asked to be assembled and ready to leave Farris Funeral Service by 1:40 P.M. on Sunday.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Handy, the staff of JMH and Grace Healthcare for the compassionate care provide to Mrs. Ball.
