Elizabeth “Betty” DeBusk left this world and went to hold the hand of Jesus on Friday, September 16, 2022. She was born on April 24, 1933, in Norton, VA to the late Clyde and Mary Belle Gobble.
Betty was a member of Abingdon Baptist Church for 54 years, where she enjoyed singing with the Hearts of Gold Choir. She enjoyed numerous adventures with her friends from the church.
She is survived by her three daughters; Donna Flanary Abel, Cathy Flanary-Shelton and husband, Mel, and Lynn Flanary Widener and husband Dee; her brothers William C. Gobble, and James E. Gobble; and sister, Carolyn Gobble Blazzard.
Her surviving grandchildren include; Nick Abel, Brad Abel, Drew Wilson and fiancé Kristen Chelak, Lauren Wilson, Heath Shelton and wife Katie, and Hunter Shelton and fiancé Lydia Bussey. She is survived by one special great-grandchild, Jayla Abel.
The visitation for Elizabeth “Betty” DeBusk will be on Monday, September 19, 2022, from noon until 1:00 p.m. at the Abingdon Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Bill Bryan and Rev. Dr. Steve Pollard officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon VA.
