Elizabeth Rose Salyers

Elizabeth Rose Salyers, age 84, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, at Ballad Hospice House in Bristol, Tennessee. Born on July 20, 1942, in East Providence, Rhode Island, Elizabeth grew up in White Hall, Michigan and lived a life that was distinguished by unwavering devotion to her family, enduring love, and the quiet strength with which she carried herself throughout her years.

Elizabeth was the cherished daughter of the late William James Wilson and Ann C. Wilson. She was also predeceased by her loving husband James Salyers, as well as her brothers, William James Wilson, Jr. and Robert John Wilson. Their memories held a special place in Elizabeth’s heart, and she carried their love and guidance with her always.

She leaves behind her beloved daughters, Ann Worley and husband David, and Victoria Salyers, each of whom carry forward her values and the lessons she imparted so lovingly. Her legacy further endures in her grandchildren: Michael Taylor, Jr., Autumn Lewis, Ector Taylor, James Lewis, Jr., Dashaun Taylor, and Dakota Hale. Each of them remembers her wisdom, kindness, and the comforting embrace of her presence.

Elizabeth’s pursuit of education was a point of pride; she completed her high school studies and furthered her accomplishments with a bachelor’s degree. Her thirst for knowledge and her love of learning inspired those around her, encouraging a sense of curiosity and resilience in her family and friends.

A woman of many passions, Elizabeth found deep satisfaction in her hobbies and interests. She was an accomplished crocheter, creating beautiful pieces that warmed both home and heart. When not working with her hands, she could often be found enjoying a good book, engaging in puzzles that challenged her keen mind, or tending to her beloved garden—pursuits that reflected her patient spirit and love for life’s simple pleasures. Elizabeth was a faithful member of Damascus Road Baptist Church.

Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Farris Cremation & Funeral Center – Forest Hills Chapel, located at 19415 Lee Hwy., Abingdon, VA 24210. A funeral service honoring Elizabeth’s life will follow at 3:00 PM at the same location with Chaplain Danny Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Michael Taylor, Jr., Ector Taylor, James Lewis, Jr., Robert Tucker, David Worley, and Ann Worley serving as pallbearers.
