Abingdon, VA – Ellen Frances Thomas, age 86, went to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Born in Christiansburg, VA, she lived most of her life in Abingdon, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mansfield Wayne Thomas; parents, Hazel and Rev. Ruben Collins; sister, Rachel Sampson; brother, Emory Collins; and grandson, Matthew Henderson.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Henderson and Husband Dean; sisters, Tilda Osborne and Rosa Walters; grandson, Chris Henderson and wife Kelsey; great granddaughter, Harper; and her little dog, Bella.
Ellen loved cooking for her family and guests. She was an avid supporter of organizations for pets, veterans, and church. Ellen played the piano at Trigg Street Church of God for over 60 years and supported the church with her time and funds. She regularly donated to other organizations as well and was quick to give to anyone in need.
Closest to her was her grandson Chris Henderson and her great granddaughter, Harper Henderson.
Visitation with the family will be held 11:00a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025, in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. Graveside services will follow at 12:00 p.m. in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Steve Vaughan officiating.
