Eric R. Miller

Abingdon, VA – Eric R. Miller, age 51, passed on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. Eric was born in Detroit, MI and moved to Ohio in his middle school years where he met and married his high school sweetheart.

He left behind his wife Deb and his daughters, Maggie and Annie, who he supported, provided, and loved fiercely throughout their lives. He was an amazing dad who loved them with his whole heart. He always pushed his girls to be the best they could be and taught them not to settle for anything but the best. As young and successful adults, they are true examples of his love and guidance.

He was a man of true kindness with devotion to his family, and to his work family. He could not have had a better team than his associates at Wolf Hills Fabricators, Damascus Corporation, and Platnick Crane and Steel. He led his team with dedication and a bit of sarcastic humor each day.

Eric chose to live his life with the cards he was given. He was able to turn an unfavorable hand into a victory. He was not one to fold when the cards looked dim, but took that as a challenge and an opportunity to make it better for his family and his friends. His tenacity was undefinable.

Eric enjoyed working on his hobby farm, tending his goats, chickens and two big dogs. He enjoyed spending time at South Holston Lake and playing pickleball and tennis. Above all he loved spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Eric is survived by his parents, Richard and Lynne Miller; his wife of 29 years, Debra Ann Miller; two daughters, Maggie Miller of Bluffton, SC and Annie Miller of Blacksburg, VA; three sisters, Laurie Sebree of Fort Thomas, KY, Lisa (Champ) Raju of Chicago, IL and Katie Miller of Dallas, TX and numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

The family of Eric would like to remember Dr. Ernie Henry for his many years of care and friendship that he provided to Eric.

Funeral services will be held at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Bristol, VA.
