Eva Fuson Martin

Bristol, TN – Eva Floretta Fuson “Flo” Martin, age 91, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Flo was born in Jellico, TN to the late James and Effie Baker Fuson on April 22, 1934.

Flo met her husband of 69 years, Rev. Luke Emerson Martin, Jr., while he was a student at the University of Tennessee. Before completing his engineering degree, Luke received his calling from the Lord to the ministry. He graduated from Southwestern seminary and Flo began her life as a

“Co-laborer” in the ministry supporting that of her husband’s. She dutifully served as church pianist and organist and performed other functions related to the needs of the many churches in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia that Luke pastored.

She loved to read her bible and spend time in prayer. Although Flo and Luke suffered from dementia during their final years, they will always be remembered as wonderful, loving parents and devoted grandparents and great grandparents.

Those left behind to remember this love include three children, Paula Martin Howington and husband Larry of Chesterfield, VA, Joel Edward Martin of Kingsport, TN, and Baker Timothy Martin and wife Melinda of Bristol, TN; ten grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2025, in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210. The service will be conducted by Mrs. Martin’s son, Tim Martin. Interment will be held privately in Forest Hills Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Midway Baptist Church, 21318 Old Dominion Road, Bristol, VA 24202.
