Frank Michael Hirsch

On a bright day in Los Angeles back in 1941, the world was graced with the presence of Franklin Hirsch. Fast forward 85 years, and Franklin's journey through life concluded peacefully in Hendersonville, NC, on May 17, 2026. But oh, what a journey it was. 

Franklin's life was one filled with love, laughter, and quiet strength. The thing he held most dear, and perhaps his greatest achievement, was winning the heart of his beloved Lois. To say he was the wind beneath her wings would be an understatement. He was her North Star, always there, always guiding, and always supporting. Franklin set the bar for what it meant to be a superb partner, doing so with grace before many even understood the concept.

For those of us who had the privilege of knowing him, Franklin's legacy is not something you could trace in a DNA strand. It's in the empathy he showed, the common sense he imparted, and the quiet strength he carried. His thirst for knowledge was infectious, and his strong faith was a guiding light that led him through life without judgment or hate. Heaven surely awaits such a soul. 

Franklin leaves behind a family who will carry his memory forward. His daughter, Michelle Hart, and his son, Michael Hirsch, survive him. His beloved wife, Lois, predeceased him, but we find comfort in knowing they are now reunited. 

A celebration of Franklin's life will be held on Friday, May 22nd at 2:00 p.m. , with visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210. We gather not just to mourn, but to celebrate a life well-lived. 

May Franklin’s altruism and empathy continue to inspire all who knew him. We have truly been blessed to have had him in our lives. Rest in peace, dear Franklin.
