Frank H. Ratliff

Frank H. Ratliff, age 90, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. He was the ninth of thirteen children born to the late John Dewey Ratliff, Sr. and Buggie Looney Ratliff in Deskins, VA on May 6, 1935. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was enlisted from 1958-1960. Frank was employed as a machinist at Norfolk Shipyard, held a supervisory position at Joy Manufacturing in Bluefield, VA and retired from Camp Sequoya. He was employed as a supervisor in other locations in the Bristol area. Locally, Frank was a member of Macedonia Church of Christ and formerly attended Big Branch Church of Christ in Oakwood, VA.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Ruby Jean Layne Ratliff; siblings, John Dewey Ratliff, Jr., Curtis Eugene Ratliff, Faye Ratliff, Virginia "Jean" Boyd, Ray Ratliff, Ralph Ratliff, and Lorene Jantzen; and good friend, Samantha Lovelace.

He is survived by his daughter, Pam Ratliff and wife, Samantha Lovelace of Abingdon, VA; granddaughter, Nichole Herndon of Blountville, TN; siblings, Tora La Tragna, Clinton Ratliff and wife Mabel, Claude Ratliff and wife Ida, and Loretta Albert; sister-in-law, Edith Ratliff; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Family and friends will meet at the mausoleum of Mountain View Cemetery in Bristol for the cryptside service on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 12;00 Noon where Minister Don Heneger and Minister Ronnie Musick will officiate. Military honors will be provided by Army National Guard Honor Guard.
