Garnett Glen Snodgrass

Garrett Glen Snodgrass, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many of his co-workers and neighbors over the years, gained his heavenly wings and went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully at his residence surrounded by family following a brief illness on September 21, 2026.

Garrett was 91 years old. He had been previously employed by over 35 years for Cherokee Construction Company, Nunley’s Service Station, Palmer House Service Station and Steve West Cabs and Mont Eads Service Station all of Abingdon, Bill Clark Petroleum of Bristol, VA. He was born in Tumbling Creek area of Washington County and worked for many farmers growing up and he has lived in Abingdon area majority of his life. 

He was preceded in death by her parents David W. Snodgrass and Lucille Collins Snodgrass, brother David Ervin Snodgrass and wife Rosalie from Meadowview, VA; Sister Ellen Louise “Lou” Castle and husband Witmer from Lynchburg, VA, Christen Helton, and husband Fred from Meadowview, VA, Douglas Delano Snodgrass and wife Eloise from Arkansas.

Survivors include one son, Billy (Bill) Snodgrass and wife Diane of Abingdon, VA; one daughter, Dwanna Doane and husband, Charles (Chuck) of Saltville, VA and one sister, Phyllis “Renee” Kidd of Glade Spring, VA.

Blessed with six grandchildren: Bill Snodgrass Jr. and wife Amy; Darrell Snodgrass and wife Katrina, Jessica Reynolds and husband Earl, Jenna Brennan and husband Sean, Justin Barrett and wife Julia and Robin Miller; twelve Great-grandchildren and one Great-Great Grandchildren. 

Family will be receiving family and friends on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 5-7 pm and the funeral service will be at 7:00 pm at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A graveside service for the family and friends will be held at Forest Hills Memory Gardens at 10:45 am on Thursday, September 24, 2026. With Bill Snodgrass Jr, Darrell Snodgrass, Frankie Fulton Lynn Hall, Eric Hall serving as pallbearers.
