Gary Wayne (Gabby) Lawson, age 66, passed away on May 21, 2024 He was born on January 26, 1958, in Richlands, VA.to the late Howard Herbert Lawson and Dorothy Lillian Jones Lawson. Gary was the proud owner of his own contracting business and found immense joy in framing homes. His passion for construction shone through in every project he undertook.
 
Those who knew Gary will always remember him for his kind and welcoming nature. He had a unique ability to make everyone around him feel at ease with his great sense of humor, he never met a stranger. Gary's love for animals was evident through his cherished fur babies - Braylyn, Paxton, Sparkey, and Sapphire. He adored handfeeding them and sharing photos with his family and friends, often keeping them close on his lap.
 
Beyond his work and love for animals, Gary had a deep passion for deer hunting and bass fishing. As a proud member of the Clinch Mountain Bass Masters, he found solace in nature's beauty. He enjoyed time with his fishing crew, Wayne Musick, Kyle Musick, Noah Musick, Jack Dye and John Thacker. A true food enthusiast, Gary believed that no meal was complete without taters.
 
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his in-laws, Tom and Mary Robinette, grandparents, James and Margaret Lawson and Clarence and Claire Jones.
 
Gary is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Debra Lynn Robinette Lawson, his son Eric Lawson and daughter-in-law Kimberly, as well as grandchildren Hunter Dalton, Chloe Dalton, Eric Lawson II, and Colt Lawson who brought immense joy to his life. His siblings Dannie Lawson, Janet Waldron (John), Diane Combs (Ronnie), and Lynn Lawson (Marsha). He also leaves behind his best friend and fishing partner of over 30 years Wayne Musick.

In addition to his immediate family, Gary is remembered fondly by nieces and nephews Angela, David, Adam, Barry, April, Chase, Kenny, Danah, Rhonda and Brandon. His fur babies Braylyn, Paxton, Sparkey, and Sapphire will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
 
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Farris Funeral Service - Main Street location. The funeral will follow starting at 2:00 PM. The burial will be at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be John Thacker, Mike Scott, Kevin Kirk, Kyler Joyal, Kyle Musick, Eric Lawson II, Colt Lawson, Hunter Dalton. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Lawson, Dannie Lawson, Lynn Lawson, Ronnie Combs, Jack Dye, Gerald Dye, Jeff O'Quinn, Rodney Ray, Big Mack Castle, Little Mack Castle and Will Castle.
 
Gary's legacy will live on through the memories of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He touched the lives of many with his genuine kindness and warm spirit. The family would like to thank everyone for their calls, visits and prayers.
