Gilda Hackney Stokes

Abingdon, VA – Gilda Hackney Stokes, age 86, passed on Friday, February 3, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Stokes was born and raised in Big Stone Gap, VA and later moved to Abingdon where she worked at Virginia Highlands Community College for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Julia May Prichard Hackney; husband, Robert G. Stokes; sisters, Jean Mack Amos and Rose Gardener; and brother, Tom Hackney.

Gilda is survived by her son, Charlton Stokes, and a host of other family and friends.

At Mrs. Stokes’ request, there will be a private interment at Powell Valley Cemetery in Big Stone Gap, VA.
