Harriet Sue Chaney Harrison

Abingdon, VA - Harriet Sue Chaney Harrison, 95 years of age, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at her home following an extended illness. She was born April 24, 1929, in Panther, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Ance and Jane Chaney. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harrison was preceded in death by her husband William Harrison, and brothers, J.D. Chaney and Paul Chaney.  

She is survived by one son, David C. Matney and wife Anita; stepsons, Jim Harrison and wife Janette, and Bill Harrison; stepdaughter, Beth Burgess and husband Lee; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Irma Lester; and brother, Leslie Chaney and wife Gertrude.

Visitation with the family will be held Friday, May 17, 2024, from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., in the Forest Hills Chapel, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA.  Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Chris Duble officiating. Entombment will be held in the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum of Forest Hills Memory Gardens. 

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Ballad Hospice. The family would also like to thank the employees of Addus, Chez, June, Erica, and Melissa for all the sympathetic care they provided in this trying time.
