Helen Denise Fuqua Woods

Helen Denise Fuqua Woods passed away December 22, 2022. Helen was born January 12, 1956, to the late Thomas Fuqua and the late Mattie Ruth Fuqua Campbell and was raised in Abingdon Virginia. She attended Abingdon Elementary and Abingdon High School.

Helen really enjoyed life and made the most out of it in everything she did. She enjoyed watching television and she loved to laugh. Helen attended and was a member of King’s Chapel Church, where, in her late 20’s, she was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost. During that time, she sang with the church choir and lead a solo:  Come to Me and I will set you free.                               

Helen married the late Daniel C Woods, and they had two daughters, Kimberly, and Danielle (Dee-Dee) Woods. Later in her life she remarried Steve Bailey, and they had one son Stephon.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Woods, one daughter Danielle (Dee-Dee) Woods, and two brothers Thomas L. Fuqua and Kenneth D. Fuqua.

Left to mourn her passing are two children: Kimberly Woods and Stephon Woods (Miranda); three sisters Carrie Madison (Mark), Mildred Layne, Terry Fayne (Aric), two brothers, Milton Fuqua, and Earl Fuqua (Deborah) and 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family. 

A Memorial Service for Helen Fuqua Woods will be conducted on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 3:00 PM at the Greater King’s Chapel Church, 244 A St SE, Abingdon Virginia, 24210 with Cynthia Fuqua-Clark Officiating.
