Hunter Garth Howard

Hunter “Garth” Howard, lifelong resident of Benhams, Virginia, passed away on April 16, 2026. Born on February 25, 1995, Garth grew up in the country and loved riding his dirt bike, both racing and for fun with his brothers and friends.

Garth is survived by his children, Zeland, Emma, and Silvia; his parents, Ellen and Max Howard; his brother Jordon Howard (Maggie), and his sister, Beth Fleenor. He was preceded in death by his brother, Drew Fleenor, and his uncle, Chad Childress.

Garth was a devoted and nurturing father. He found so much joy in caring for his children and could always be found by their side. Garth also had a deep love for animals and rescued many throughout his life. His compassion and love for the most vulnerable will always be remembered.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebrate Garth’s life. A memorial service will be held at Farris Funeral Service in Abingdon, Virginia on Monday, April 20 at 6 pm with Chaplain David Scott., visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bristol VA Humane Society or the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
