Jack Ronald Gass, a man of remarkable ingenuity and passion, has peacefully passed away at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tennessee. Born in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, on April 21, 1933, to the late, Clarence Sylvester Gass and Olga Halcovich Gass. Jack leaves behind a legacy filled with cherished memories and accomplishments.

Having graduated from Chambersburg Area High School in 1951, Jack went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1971. His time in the military allowed him and his beloved family to explore every state in the U.S. and numerous countries around the world.

A master craftsman, Jack's hands had a touch of magic. His skill knew no bounds; he could create anything he set his mind to. Whether it was meticulously caning chairs, constructing remote control boats and airplanes, or cultivating orchids during his time in Florida, Jack's talents shone brightly in all his endeavors.

In his leisure time, Jack found solace and joy in boating and fishing along the scenic canals of Florida. The outdoors called to him, and he responded eagerly by tending to his gardens with a special love for raising orchids.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Arlene Clarke Gass; two sons, Jeb Gass and Jarred Gass; and his sister, Shirley Daigle.

Jack will be dearly missed by his surviving family: daughter Jackie-lyn Kenany; daughter-in-law, Jacquie Gass; son Jeffrey Lee Gass & daughter-in-law Dawn; grandchildren Kaalyn Baxter, Joshua Baxter, Jillian Buchter, Jason Gass, Rebecca Gass and Jeremy Gass; as well as four great-grandchildren.

The family will received friends on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Farris Funeral Service, 427 E. Main Street, Abingdon, Virginia. A celebration of life service will follow at 5:00 pm with Chaplain James A. Grogg officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
