Jackie Lynn Neal

Jackie (Jack) Lynn Neal, 78, died Sunday, April 28, 2024, in Abingdon Health and Rehab. He was born in Abingdon, Virginia, on August 9, 1945 and was a 1963 graduate of Abingdon High School, where he played football.

After high school, he received certification from United Electronics, before enrolling and graduating from the Apprentice School at Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock, where he worked, before returning to work at Abingdon Cleaners, which was owned by the Neal family for many years. 

Jack was a history buff and, in the early days of the White's Mill Foundation, helped maintain the grounds and re-open the historic mill. 

Parents Hubert and Etta (Spriggs) Neal, and brothers Pat and Dr. Roger Neal, preceded him in death. He is survived by Jean Neal, their son Jason, sister Debbie Cox and husband Jim, sister Sandra Walters and several nieces and nephews.
