James Fullen

Meadowview, VA – Mr. James Edward Fullen, born May 1, 1937 in Saltville, VA to the late Jake and Olivine Fullen, entered his Heavenly home on Saturday, May 11, 2024, surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He attended Douglas High School in Bristol, VA where he received his diploma in 1957. James gave his life to Christ while attending AME Zion Church in Meadowview, VA, where he later became a dedicated member. He was united in holy matrimony to Brooklyn Watkins on May 2, 1959. Their union was blessed with three sons and three grandchildren. James was a truck driver for over 30 years with several carriers including ABF and Mason-Dixon. 

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Fullen; sisters-in-law, Brenda Fullen and Vivian Santona; and one brother-in-law, Lawerence Mayo.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Brooklyn Fullen; three sons, James (Reginia) Fullen, Jeffrey (Amelia) Fullen, and Jonathan (Sheila Moody) Fullen; three grandchildren, Aaron Fullen, Alex Raykowitz, and Braylon Arnold; siblings, Mattie Mayo, Jake (Shirley) Fullen, Jr., and Joyce (Warren) Lindsey; a host of loving nieces and nephews; and special caregiver and special friend, Sandy Call.

Visitation with the family will be held 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Hebert Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Aaron Fullen, Kevin Lindsey, Richard Woodard, Cody Fuqua, Gee Humphrey, David Bradley, Mike Fullen, and Lawrence Mayo, Jr. serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be George Fullen, Enis Fullen, Billy Fullen, Sr., Joe Bowers, Robert Beach, Wallace Rhodes, Everett Rose, Bernard McGlothlin, Randy Salyer, Kevin Claypool, Warren Lindsey, Marion Smith, Stanley Webb, Sam Litton, Gary Hammer, and Eddie Fuqua.
