James William Turner

Abingdon, VA – James William Turner, age 79, passed on Friday, July 11, 2025, in Johnston Memorial Hospital. James was a native of Groton, CT and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served his country for eight years including two tours in Vietnam and several years in Germany. In 1994, he moved to Virginia where he owned and operated his own landscaping company.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas Turner and Edna Mae Pirettie.

James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gertraud Euler Turner; children, Kenneth Allen Turner, James Thomas Turner, II, Cindy Ann Reedy, and Stephanie Turner; brother, Clyde Turner; grandchildren, Timothy Brown, Smantha LeeAnn Turner, Haley Nicole Hockett, Anna Marie Turner, and Christian Reedy; great grandchildren, Ashton Turner, Everley Locklear, and Cane Turner; and several nieces and nephews.

At Mr. Turner’s request, no services will be held.
