James Walden

Saltville, VA – James Henry Walden, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, peacefully, at Bristol Rehab and Memory Care. Henry was an EMT for Valley Rescue Squad for many years. When he was not serving his community, you would find him working on the family farm.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Wood Walden and Alice Amelia Walden; brothers, Thomas Walden, Jr., Robert Lee Walden, Lonnie Michael Walden; and sisters, Shirley Marie Barrett, and Peggy Ann Smith. He is survived by his sister, Betty Jo Blevins; several nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be held, 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2026, in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Clark Powers officiating. Thomas Blevins, James Blevins, Elvis Blevins, Zack Blevins, Kevin Chaffin, and Isaac Chaffin will serve as pallbearers. Crystal Chaffin, Matthew Chaffin, Daniel Blevins, Tyler Blevins, Brady Johnson, and Zach Barnett will be honorarium pallbearers.
