Jerry B. Stroup

Abingdon, VA – Jerry B. Stroup, age 78, passed on Monday, October 18, 2021, at his home.  Jerry was a graduate of Abingdon High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  He retired from UPS after 30 years of service and was a member of Gospel Tabernacle.  Jerry traveled to over 90 countries and visited all 50 states.   Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert B. and Virginia Vannoy Stroup; and brother, Roger Stroup. 

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Margaret Taylor Stroup; sons, Mike (Charity) Puckett of Abingdon, VA, and Bryan (Alisa) Puckett of Gaylord, MI; six siblings, Jim (Gloria) Stroup of Abingdon, VA, Harry Stroup of Abingdon, VA, Joyce (Bobby) Manual of Alvarado, VA, Kathy Hermann of Abingdon, VA, Linda (Leo) Bryan of Atlanta, GA, and Penny Lyall of Abilene, TX; four grandchildren, Austin (Kayla) Puckett of Bristol, VA, Taylor Puckett of Abingdon, VA, Gage Puckett of Gaylord, MI, and Amity Puckett of Gaylord, MI; and many nieces and nephews.   

Visitation with the family will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.  Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor David Robins officiating.  Committal services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, in Knollkreg Memorial Park with military rites conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Air Force.
