Jerry Taylor Coleman

Glade Spring, VA

Glade Spring, VA – Jerry Taylor Coleman, Sr., age 83, a lifelong resident of Glade Spring, VA, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Commonwealth Senior Living in Cedar Bluff, VA.  Jerry retired from the Ball Corporation after 28 years of employment and was a member of Landmark Baptist Church.  He and his wife, Dianna, later founded D.J.’s Pizza in Glade Spring which they operated for 18 years.  Jerry was a founding member and former Captain of the Glade Spring Volunteer Rescue Squad and a member of the Glade Spring Volunteer Fire Department.  He also served as vice mayor and town councilman for Glade Spring.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Taylor Coleman and Katie Owens Coleman; daughter, Holly Coleman; two brothers, Howard and Donald Coleman; and sister, Helen Bailey.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dianna Sue Lyons Coleman; five children, Kathy Jones and husband Tim of Emory, VA, Cindy Hughes and husband Cliff, Angie Doss and husband Ronnie; Jerry Taylor Coleman, Jr. and wife Kelly, and Roy Coleman and Rachel, all of Glade Spring, VA; son-in-law, Jeff Duncan; six grandchildren, Valerie Doss, Summer Duncan, Levi Coleman, Rowen Dolge, Liam Dolge, and Nicholas Coleman; and great grandson, Scotty Duncan.

Visitation with the family will be held 4-6 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023, in the Main Street location of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Dean Lundy officiating.  Committal services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday in Mt. Rose Cemetery Mausoleum with Jerry Coleman, Jr., Roy Coleman, Levi Coleman, Ronnie Doss, Tim Jones, and Cliff Hughes serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Lyons, Scottie Duncan, Brian Coe, Michael Hall, ABX Sorority of Emory & Henry College, the D.J.’s Pizza Gang, and his many family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org, in Mr. Coleman’s name.
