Joan G. Thompson

Joan G. Thompson was born in Somerset, PA to the late Peter Marylieu and Carolyn Murphy.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #119 for many years, where she served as secretary. Joan was a dear friend to many and always willing to lend a helping hand to her neighbors, relatives, and friends. She was a devoted wife to her husband and a faithful friend to many.

Joan is survived by brothers Charles Murphy and William (“Bill”) Murphy (Cheryl), sisters Charlotte Fisher (Bob) and Sandra Robinson; nephew Devin A. Baillairgé; nephew Jeffrey D. Baillairgé (Melissa), nephew Jimmy Thompson (Paula); niece Cindy Robinette (Stan), and many loving cousins. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack C. Thompson, sisters Katherine Olsen and Patricia Durant, and brother Richard Murphy.

A memorial will be held at Farris Cremation and Funeral Center,  19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, Virginia, 24212 on April 6, 2024, 2 pm, with Shayne Crenshaw officiating. A private burial was held on March 5, 2024, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
