Joshua William Mort

Joshua William "Josh" Mort, known also as "Dawsii", 37 of Bristol, VA passed away on December 31, 2025, surrounded by his family. 

Josh was born on September 28, 1988, to John and Renee Mort. He grew up with a love for skateboarding, basketball, and playing outdoors with his friends and his brother.

After graduating from John S. Battle High School, he was employed at various businesses, primarily as an associate at Lowe's Home Improvement. 

Josh was known for his humorous and kind personality, always lifting moods with his easy-going manner, absolute acceptance of others, and quick wit. Josh spent his spare time helping his elderly family members, being with friends, skateboarding and mentoring his young nephew.

Josh is survived by his parents: John and Renee; his beloved brother Jonathan Mort; his nephew Noah Mort; grandmothers Claudette Parker and Perry Addison; great aunt Annette Freeman Anderson and Cricket Roe Hale, several aunts, uncles and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved "Papaw"; J.W. Addison, and his paternal grandparents, Jim and Linda Mort.

 A graveside service will be held at a later date at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
