Joye Blackwell

Joye Theresa Blackwell, age 86, went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2025.

She was born on May 20, 1939, to the late Lucky and Hazel Frye. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William “Billy” Blackwell, Son Edward T. Blackwell, two brothers, Lucky Frye, Jr. and Blake Frye.

Joye was a longtime member of McCready Church in Saltville and later in life a member of Midway Church of God in Abingdon. She was a member of the Glenrochie Country Club where she was an avid golfer and won several awards. Joye dedicated her life to caring for her grandson Seth.

Those left to cherish her memory include the love of her life, her grandson Seth Blackwell, Sister Cathy Cahill (William), sister-in-law Brenda Frye and several nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service was held at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with the Rev, Dave Gibson officiating.

A very special thank you for the nurses and the staff at American house. Also, at Hospice of Bristol and the five young ladies who gave Joye the best of care at the end of her life.
