Judith Priscilla Johnson

Judy Cox Johnson, 84, of Newton, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Abernethy Laurels.

She was born May 11, 1941 in Washington County, VA to the late Lawrence Cox and Lydia Mays Cox. Judy was of the Baptist faith and retired from the furniture industry.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Johnson.

Those left to cherish her memory are; Son: Jeffrey Johnson and wife Anissa of Honaker; Daughter: Betsy Johnson of Hickory; Brother: Randy Cox of Hudson; Sister: Lola Farthing of Baton; Grandchildren: Sidney Johnson, Peyton Beason, Cheyenne Johnson, and Tucker Johnson; Numerous nieces and nephews: Teri Ferguson, Karen Warren, Tracy Burchette, and Marty Hart.

A service to celebrate Judy's life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton. The family will receive prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service. Burial will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Rosedale Baptist Church Cemetery in Abingdon, VA.
