Judy Snead Vermillion, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the Commonwealth Senior Living at the age of 68. She was born to the late Ernest (Doc) Snead and Lucille Montgomery Snead in Saltville, VA on June 11, 1954.
She attended VHCC and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting in 1974. She began her working career in the banking industry. She worked for the Bank of Damascus – Meadowview branch and later moved to Washington County National Bank in Abingdon, VA. In 1992, she began working in the financial aid office at Virginia Highlands Community College and retired after 23 years in 2015. After retiring, she worked part-time at the Southwest Higher Education Center for 4 years at the information desk. Judy loved animals, especially dogs and gave many strays a home and love throughout the years. She attended Yellow Springs Church in Meadowview before moving to Abingdon in 2000 and started attending Greendale Chapel. She accepted the Lord in 1979 and trusted in His love for his children.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Vince and Beatrice Snead and William and Martha Montgomery, several aunts and uncles and special friend, Debbie Gobble.
Judy is survived by her husband, Sherman Vermillion, her sister, Shirley Snead of Abingdon, VA, special friends, Helen Wood, Bobbie Sue Warren, and Susie McConnell.
At Judy’s request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon VA with Rev. David Matlock and Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. In the event of inclement weather, the graveside service will be held indoors. Her final resting place will be next to her parents at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Greendale Chapel, PO Box 1314, Abingdon, VA 24212.
