Katherine Lynn Tarter

Katherine Lynn Terry Tarter, 59, born on May 2, 1963, passed away on July 26, 2022 at her home in Abingdon, Virginia. Kathy leaned on her faith as she fought a long battle with cancer. She had a strong spirit, a deep love of family, and an abiding faith in God.
Kathy enjoyed architecture, crocheting, quilting, building miniature buildings, and genealogy. She even had published a small number of books on the research of her own family. She had amazing patience with children in the family and liked to encourage them to be creative, to find their passion and to follow their dreams. She always tried to match Christmas gifts with the young kids’ interests.
Kathy is preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward & Katie Hartlieb; her husband, Paul Gene Tarter and her nephew, Jordan Lee Holz.
Kathy is survived by her son, Steven Terry Jr.; her mother, Nancy Hartlieb; her brother and his wife, Frederick S. Holz, Jr. (Melody); her nephew and his wife, Frederick S. Holz, III (Collette); her nieces, Anneliese LaTempa and Roxanne Hayes; as well as 10 great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2022, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Wes News will officiate. A private interment will be held in Thomas Cemetery in Faubush, KY.
Kathy will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. She will always be in our hearts and will live on in our memories. Heaven has gained an incredible spirit. Rest with the angels, Kathy, free of the pain and sorrows of your earthly life. Until we meet again.
