Katherine Ryburn Minton

Wytheville, VA – Katherine Ryburn Minton, age 96, passed on Friday, August 8, 2025, in English Meadows Assisted Living. Katherine was born March 8, 1929, in Meadowview, VA to the late William Thomas and Margaret Katherine Preston Ryburn. She was a graduate of Liberty Hall High School and Emory & Henry College.

Katherine was a school teacher for over 35 years, starting her career at Liberty Hall, and retiring from Wythe County Public Schools where she and her late husband, Jack, resided for nearly 50 years. She and Jack enjoyed attending both the Emory & Henry College football and basketball games. Katherine was a member of Wytheville Presbyterian Church.

In addition to Katherine’s parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Bess Ryburn, Emily Reed, William Samuel Ryburn, Jr., and Thomas Preston Ryburn. She is survived by four nephews, James William Reed, David Reed and wife Martha, Lee Reed and wife Katherine, and Sam Ryburn, Sr. and wife Renae; and sisters-in-law, Laura D. Ryburn and Dorothy H. Ryburn.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dr. John Kilpatrick Langham officiating.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of English Meadows Assisted Living, Tim Cox, and Mary Mathis for the help and care they have assisted Katherine with over the years.
