Katherine Blanche Cunningham Thayer

Abingdon, VA – Katherine Blanche Cunningham Thayer, age 87, passed on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at her home. Mrs. Thayer was a nurse for many years and a member of Washington Chapel United Methodist Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Garland F. Cunningham and Josie Price Cunningham; husband, James Thayer, Jr.; and brother, Gene Cunningham, Sr.

Mrs. Thayer is survived by her daughter, Cathy Richardson of Abingdon, VA; son, Michael E. Thayer and wife Maureen of Harrisburg, NC; grandchildren, Brandon Robinson and wife Crystal, Katie Thayer, and Matthew Thayer; and two great grandchildren, Alexa Robinson and Bryson Robinson.

Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2022, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.  Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Mark McFadden officiating.
