Loni Cadmus Willey

Loni Cadmus Willey, age 56, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at her home in Abingdon, VA.

Loni has always been someone who brings warmth, kindness, and strength into the lives of others. For the past ten years, she has served as President of Happy Tails Animal Rescue of Washington County, VA, dedicating herself to countless roles—transport driver, coordinator, foster home, statistics tracker, report filer and more. She has saved over 10,000 dogs and cats. She’s always the first to jump in and help whenever needed, and her compassion has touched so many lives – human and animal alike. Loni worked for several years as the Executive Director of The Women's Institute in Boston, MA.

Loni is survived by her husband, Matthew Willey, three brothers Richard Verreras, Robert Verreras, and Howard Verreras.

Loni will be buried at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210.
