Malinda Kay Davenport, a beloved resident of Glade Spring, Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026. Born on August 20, 1964, in Abingdon, VA to the late C.W. Davenport and Patsy Bowers Davenport. Malinda’s life was characterized by kindness, generosity, and a deep love for the natural world.

From a young age, Malinda demonstrated a genuine warmth that touched all who knew her. She was a kind, welcoming, and trusting individual whose spirit of giving defined her relationships throughout her life. Malinda’s love of animals, especially horses, was a passionate thread woven through her years. This affection blossomed during her time working at a horse ranch in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she groomed and rode horses, nurturing a lifelong bond with these majestic creatures.

Her intellectual curiosity was broad and varied. Malinda found joy in coloring, a simple yet soothing pastime. She delighted in watching the Travel Channel, particularly programs focused on European travel, which sparked her imagination and sense of adventure from afar. She was an avid reader, cherishing books like Game of Thrones that transported her to richly vivid worlds.

Malinda was a dedicated student, having graduated from Patrick Henry High School and later earning an associate's degree in business from Virginia Highlands Community College. Her educational achievements were a testament to her determination and commitment to personal growth.

Malinda is survived by her dear friends Phyllis Ayling (cousin), Valerie McCray, Gail McElfresh, Lyn Small, Tim Kestner, and Beverly Martin, who stood by her side and cherished her friendship. Their expressions of love and remembrance will serve as a lasting tribute to her memory.

Honoring Malinda's wishes there are no funeral services planned.
