Abingdon, VA - A beautiful flower has faded away on this side of the river, but she will bloom again on the other side where there will be no pain, tears, or worries.Margaret Davison Moore passed away on Monday, February 29, 2016 at her home. She was born July 13, 1938 in Washington County, Virginia to the late Cyrus O. Davison and Ella Pullon Davison. Margaret was married to Gerald E. Moore on August 15, 1956. She was a homemaker until her son was 12 years old; then she became a part-time sales associate for La Vogue and Peck Peck. She later became a sales associate, fashion consultant, and display person for Stone Thomas and later for Belk. She won many awards for being the top sales person in womens high-end clothing. Margaret retired from Belk in November 2010 and moved from Charlottesville to Abingdon, VA with her husband. She was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, Ruckersville, VA, for many years prior to moving to Abingdon where she became a member of Abingdon Baptist Church. Margaret was a volunteer at the Johnston Memorial Hospital. She loved to work there, and when she got sick, she missed all of her friends at the hospital. Margaret was an extrovert who made many friends in Charlottesville, Abingdon, and Bristol.One of Margarets hobbies was home decorating. She was very good at matching colors, placing pictures, placing furniture, and arranging flowers and other decorations. She used her skills to make suggestions to others on how to decorate their homes. She was very meticulous in her housekeeping. She was preceded in death by brothers Cyrus O. Davison, Jr, and Fred Davison and one sister, Mary Miller. She is survived by her husband, Gerald E. Moore; a loving son, Gerald (Jerry) Houston Moore; and his wife, Kimberly Groome Moore of Ruckersville, VA; two grandchildren that she loved and adored, Katherine Moore and Nathan Moore; a brother, Herbert Davison and wife Cheri of Bristol; three sisters, Edna Tester and husband Conway of Bristol, Minnie Hobbs of Abingdon, and Hazel Shoffner Price, of Abingdon; her in-law family includes: Bob Moore and wife Linnay of Hamilton, MI, Miles Paul Moore and Phyllis of Bristol, Sylvia Flick and Everett of Bristol, Nellie Jane Patrick of Bristol, Mavis Snodgrass and John of Knoxville, Pauline Buckles and Fred of Meadowview, VA, Pete Barnett of Tullahoma, TN, and Patricia Moore of Ashland, VA; and many nephews and nieces who loved her. Visitation with the family will be held 12:30-2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Abingdon Baptist Church, 361 W. Main, Abingdon,VA. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Parke L. Deans officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Nathan Moore, Everett Flick, Fred Buckles, Alan Buckles, Paul Moore, Wayne Davison, and Oda Davison serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers include her many friends at the Gift Shop at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon Baptist Church, Belk, and the many individuals that were a part of her life. Margaret wanted to thank Dr. Jonathan Swank who was always ready to help her and also the kind services of Dr. Joseph (Sandy) Brown, Dr. Shyam Odeti, and Dr. Jorge Uribe. Further, a big thank you to the nurses that took care of her in room 3207. We want to thank all of the caregivers for their time in helping to make Margaret as comfortable as possible, especially Lisa Gammon and Carolyn Osborne.
