Abingdon, VA – Mark Randall Kuhn, age 68, passed on Thursday, September 4, 2025. Mark was born in Oakmont, WV. At age 17, Mark joined the U.S. Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division. After serving his country, Mark began his 47-year career with Dominion Energy where he lived Keyser, WV, McCool, MD, and Chesterfield, VA before moving to Abingdon in 2016 to be the Station Director for the Virginia City Power Plant.
He was a NASCAR fan who was enthused with all aspects of the sport. Mark also enjoyed camping with family and friends where his social curiosity compelled him to meet all the neighbors in the campground during his stays.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Kuhn. Mark is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dawn Marie Savage Kuhn; mother, Joanne Mclaughlin Knott; children, Jeffrey Kuhn and wife Amie, Jessica Dunning and husband Sean, and Nikki Cavey and husband Daniel; siblings, Brenda Mclaughlin and husband Blaine “Jit”, Steve Kuhn, and Jeff Kuhn and wife Kelly; his grandchildren who he loved dearly, Greyson Kuhn, Madison Pontis, Julie Grace Dunning, Lily Marie Dykes, Gwyneth Ann Dykes, and Darla Mae Dykes; several nieces; his special kitty, Louie; and his “Cuz”, Carl Greer and wife Linda, and Tom Nelson, who he considered special family.
At Mark’s wish, a memorial service with military rites will be held privately.
