Mark Tilson

Mark Aaron Tilson, age 25, of Damascus, Va., passed away on August 24th, 2025, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Mark was a wonderful son, and friend. He was dedicated to God and was quick to share his faith with those he met. He was someone his family always looked to for a smile and a laugh. He enjoyed time with family and friends, playing video games, camping, and being outdoors in the wonder of God’s creation. He and his family are members of Mountain View Baptist Church and he came to faith there at an early age. He attended school at Patrick Henry High School. During his time there, he made many wonderful friends. Fun loving and direct by nature, the stories of the times spent with family and friends will be cherished and retold by everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nathan Forrest Tilson; Grandfathers Douglas Carrier and Cody Tilson; and his Aunt Linda McKee. Mark is survived by his mother, Joyce Carrier Tilson; his brother Daniel Tilson and wife Maria Popa Tilson of Christiansburg, Va.; his grandmothers Shirley Carrier, Elizabeth Tilson Gray and husband Eddie; his Aunts and Uncles Shane and Amy Tilson, Richard and Paula Carrier, and David McKee, and numerous cousins.

Mark will be greatly missed but his testimony of faith in God, his creator, and the impact he had on family and friends will be evident for years to come. He leaves us with a tremendous legacy that will not be forgotten.

Visitation with family will take place on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.  A graveside service, conducted by Caleb Holman, will take place on Thursday, August 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Knollkreg Cemetery in Abingdon.

A celebration of life will be held on September 6th, 2025, at Observation Knob Park, Shelter B, from 3 p.m. till 6 p.m.
