Mary Lou Rosenbaum Bevins, 68, of Glade Spring, Virginia, completed the final season of her earthly journey on June 11, 2023, when she entered the church triumphant. She was a faithful servant who left behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion to all who knew her. She was retired from Russell County Schools as a teacher of thirty-eight years of service. She touched and inspired the lives of many students. She was well known for her artistic abilities and was a skilled painter, providing artwork for many people throughout the years. As a devoted woman of faith, she was a founding member of Providence Presbyterian Church for more than thirty years.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, known as Gigi to her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, David Alan Bevins; her children Ashley Hortenstine, David Andrews Bevins and wife Katie and Amanda Kathleen “Katie” Green and husband, J.J. Green.
Grandchildren include Fisher Hortenstine, Cora Bevins, Isla Bevins and Adeline Green. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Carolyn Rosenbaum Wilson and her husband Mike, as well as nieces; Amy Wilson and fiancé’ Bruce Millet and Rebecca Davidson and husband Cody.
The family wishes to express the deepest gratitude to the community of support Mrs. Bevins received throughout her extended illness including the Ballad Cancer Center with Dr. Timothy Davis, and Dr. Lyndsey Wilson and their staff, as well as Dr. Laramie Triplet and Dr. Timothy McGarry and staff. The family would also like to express their gratitude to Cornerstone Therapy, Northgate Pharmacy, and Ann Williams. Also, grateful appreciation to her church family, as well as friends and family.
A visitation and memorial service will be conducted at Glade Spring Presbyterian Church beginning at 3:00 PM on June 15, 2023.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made to either the American Cancer Foundation, St. Jude’s Hospital or Providence Presbyterian Church, Chilhowie, VA.
