Mary Elizabeth White

Mary Elizabeth Blevins White, age 86, of Bristol, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and prayer Warrior as well as a member of Grace Pointe Church of God. For over 30 years she lived with progressive spastic paraplegia, meeting the challenges of this illness with grace and dignity. She always allowed her Christian light and love for the Lord to shine by putting others first and serving throughout her live.

She was born to the late Jacob Blevins and Ida Belle Thompson Blevins. In addition to her parents, Mary was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Elmer “Ray” White; two brothers, Jacob “Yokeley” Blevins and David Blevins; and sister, Betty Westbrook.

She is survived by three children: Raymond “Bo” White and wife, Debbie, of Franklin, Va.; Janet Tammeste and husband, Henry, Bristol, Va.; and Jo Ann Taylor and husband, Darryl, of Abingdon, Va.; sister, Janie Compton and husband, Barry, of Richmond, Va; sisters-in-law, Daphne Blevins of Glade Spring, Va. And Mildred White of Ohio; brother-in-law, Walt Westbrook of Dunellen, New Jersey; five grandchildren, Patricia, Jessica, Beki, Alex, and Justin; and two great grandchildren, Daniel and Ella; and great-great granddaughter, Adalina.

Visitation will be held 4:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2026, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Rev, Raymond “Bo” White and Rev. Charles DeBord officiating. A committal service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday in Glade Spring Baptist Cemetery where Darren Stone, Daniel Stone, Rick Whittaker, Justin Taylor, and Ben Tilley will serve as honorary pallbearers.
