Melissa "Lisa" Sue Arnold Steele, age 68, went to be with the Lord on June 6, 2026, in Bristol, Tennessee. Born on December 8, 1957, in Bristol, Virginia, Melissa lived a life marked by dedication, love, and creativity. She was a woman of the Baptist Faith, whose gentle spirit and industrious nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Melissa devoted many years of her professional life as a seamstress at Gordon Garments, where her skill and attention to detail were well respected. Her talent with a needle was evident not only in her work but also in the countless hours she spent sewing for family and friends. Beyond her vocation, Melissa found joy and fulfillment in horseback riding, puzzles, sewing, and most importantly, spending quality time with her beloved family.
She was lovingly married to her husband of 46 years, Jeffery Steele, whose companionship was a pillar of support throughout her life. Melissa is survived by her daughter, Amanda Lynn Sutherland, and son-in-law Tandy, who were the light of her later years. Her loving presence remains alive in her grandchildren—Courtney Arnold and husband Tyler, Matthew Sutherland, and Jonathan Sutherland—and her cherished great-grandson, Braylon Arnold.
Family was at the heart of Melissa’s life. She is also survived by her brothers, Junior Arnold and wife Cheryl, and Bobby Arnold and wife Lisa; her sister, Carol Dunn and husband James; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry forward her memory with love.
Melissa was preceded in death by her parents, William "Bill" Arnold and Ruby Arnold Royston; her grandmother, Teddy Stewart; her brother, Franklin "Peanut" Arnold; her son, Lindsay Lee Steele; and her beloved dog, Lil Bill. The loss of these dear family members weighed heavily on her heart, yet she remained a steadfast and loving presence within her family.
At Mrs. Steele’s request, no formal services will be held.
