Murphy Jo Childress

Abingdon, VA – Murphy Jo Childress, born November 1, 2019, and age 3, passed on Thursday, November 17, 2022, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  Murphy Jo loved to dance, watching Katie’s Classroom, the lake, boating, riding the golf cart, and the pool.  She was strong and loved life.  She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Eugene and Beverly Childress; maternal grandfather, Larry Murphy; and aunt, Tina Perkins.

Murphy Jo is survived by her parents, Myra and Ben Childress; sister, Millie Childress; maternal grandmother, Judy Murphy; grand Kimmie, Kim Rife; and aunt, Megan Murphy.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the family’s home near South Holston Lake where Murphy Jo loved to play.
