Nancy Lilly

Nancy Joan Lennon Lilly, age 88, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Valley Nursing & Rehab in Taylorsville, NC, surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born on September 4, 1934, in Columbus Co., NC, to the late John Pritchard Lennon, Sr and Minnie Bert Thomas Lennon. She was a member of Belle Meadows Baptist Church in Bristol. Nancy was the Valedictorian of her high school class at Acme-Delco High School, an avid reader who also  enjoyed crossword puzzles and sudoku, gardening, and cooking. Nancy was a master seamstress, quilt-maker and needleworker. Nancy was a volunteer at Johnston Memorial Hospital and worked in the gift shop. She was a godly, praying woman and taught Sunday School for many years.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Gene Lindberg Lilly, and a brother-in-law, Allen George.

Survivors include three daughters, Deborah J. Weddington of Bristol, TN, Susan L. Barrett and husband James Jr of Winston-Salem, NC, and Jeanne E. Stewart and husband Barry of Hiddenite, NC; one brother, John P. Lennon, Jr and his wife Jennifer of Delco, NC; two sisters, Ellen Edwards and her husband Wendell and Julie George; eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael Weddington, Nicholas Barrett, and Dustin Rowland, as well as Nancy’s friend, Jimmy Leonard. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and her great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Bristol, 701 Florida Ave, Bristol TN 37620. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church of Bristol with her grandson, Rev. Dr. Samuel Weddington, officiating. Entombment services will follow the funeral in the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Haven of Rest Rescue Mission, 223-201 6^th Street, Bristol, TN 37620.
